What is “adverse” in a patent infringement context?

Oral argument was held in a case involving a motion to disqualify filed against Akin Gump. The oral argument was held today, and is here.  I was there when this case was filed, and so can't say a whole lot, except it's interesting, especially the appellee's argument, starting about eight minutes before the end.
