and 4) Even though the ‘average’ patent search professional is considered a leper within the IP community at times, the top shelf professionals are far from that category. (I’m by no means insinuating that Cardinal is on that tier.) For example, the folks doing the hardcore research at the big Pharma companies are some truly brilliant folks. And there are corresponding high-end professionals earning top dollar in the other technical disciplines as well that are primarily utilized in litigation support or FTO work.

I know examiners look at IDS statements and think a blind monkey could do better, but those statements often have very little to do with professional searching and more to do with ‘duty to disclose’. Or they are being generated by a ‘least cost provider’ chosen by the accounting department rather than the legal department of a large filer.

Why are plenty of JDs examining?

If a peon like 6 can play bureaucratic god, why not someone with an ego and a JD?

  3. 4

    Few reasons:
    1) Times are still tough for non-EE JDs. Bills must be paid.
    2) Position could be supervisory. (PCT Opinion reviews, for example.)
    3) Work-life balance. Why are plenty of JDs examining?

Bloow, just like that on the hood! Lulz.

That’s true that it would need algorithms what with him going wild on the inventing thinking that his plate toppers need social media exposure.

“Cardinal Intellectual Property is looking for a patent search professional with a JD degree and a technical degree to work remotely.”

Who would be a patent search prof if they had their JD?
