Pegasystems
is seeking a Senior Patent Agent. This role will assist the Senior IP Counsel in providing IP thought leadership by strategically developing and maintaining the company’s patent portfolio with an eye towards supporting the company’s business objectives.
Work closely with Pegasystems’ technical, legal and business team members in the process of researching, generating and evaluating new patent ideas for the patent portfolio
- Review new product features for patentability in conjunction with product management teams
- Help prepare and evaluate invention disclosures
- Prepare and prosecute US and foreign patent applications and office actions
- Research software technologies and competing products to assess patent ideas and help prepare invention disclosures
Assist with IP-litigation and special projects
- Help manage IP litigation
- Draft and respond to cease and desist letters involving Pega or third-party IP
- Help organize innovation seminars and IP-related training
- Help with IP due diligence for M&A projects
Manage trademark and copyright filings
- Work with the marketing team to identify and file new trademark registrations
- Work with the product teams to file copyright registrations for each of the major product releases
Desired Skills and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science
- Registered patent agent with the USPTO
- 2 + years of patent drafting/prosecution experience (25+ patent applications/ 75+ office actions)
- 2 + years of software development experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Registered patent attorney with the USPTO
- Experience with XML-based technologies, Java, CSS, Javascript, HTML, Eclipse
- Prior experience in software product management or development
- Prior experience as a patent examiner or IP transactional experience
- Prior IP litigation experience
