Patent Agent or Patent Attorney – Law Firm – Reston, Va.

Keating & Bennett LLP is currently seeking a Patent Agent or Patent Attorney with the following skills and credentials:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Physics is required.
  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Physics is preferred.
  • 2+ years of patent examining experience at USPTO is required.
  • 2+ years of patent prosecution experience after 2+ years USPTO examining experience is preferred.
  • Active USPTO registration is required.
  • Strong analytical, writing and patent drafting skills are required.
  • Experience with Japanese clients and Japanese language is preferred.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Drafting patent applications based on invention disclosures and discussions with inventors.
  • Prosecution of U.S. patent applications filed based on foreign-filed priority applications.
  • IP counseling relating to patentability, infringement, validity, enforceability, post grant procedures, licensing, litigation, opinions, IP due diligence relating to M&A activities.
  • Travel to meet attorneys/clients/inventors to discuss inventions and/or applications.
  • Manage extensive docket of patent prosecution and IP counseling matters for various clients.
