Job Description: Patent Agent – Pharmaceutical Technologies
Capricorn Pharma, Inc., is a specialty pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing firm with multiple technology platforms. Capricorn is focused on creative R&D, innovation and patenting. The company is headquartered in Frederick, MD, with additional operations overseas.
The agent will work closely with R&D and senior management in identifying and evaluating new inventions; conduct prior art searches; and draft provisional applications for filing in the US. The agent will manage the portfolio of patent cases that are prosecuted by outside counsel. The agent will obtain freedom-to-operate analysis and contribute to patent strategies and portfolio analysis. There will be minimal or no docket-management in-house.

Must have minimum 2-3 years experience in pharmaceutical patents, with experience in drafting and prosecuting a minimum of 10 applications in drug delivery technologies

Must be registered to practice before the USPTO

Must have a basic degree in life sciences with excellent academic credentials and prior research experience, or an advanced degree with some work experience

Must be self-motivated, highly disciplined with excellent oral and written communication skills

Must be proficient in various search techniques for a thorough searching of prior art in the pharmaceutical drug delivery area.
