Additon, Higgins, & Pendleton, P.A., 
a boutique intellectual property law firm based in Charlotte, North Carolina, is seeking an experienced patent attorney or patent agent to immediately join the firm.
The candidate should have a technical background in software, electronics, controls, and the electro-mechanical arts. Technical knowledge or experience in optics and imaging is a plus. At least two years of experience in patent prosecution in a U.S. law firm or in house is required as well as excellent communication and time management skills. The candidate should be capable of drafting patent applications and/or preparing responses to Office Actions with little instruction. The candidate should also have a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, engineering or a similar technical field. Admission to practice before the USPTO is required. Admission to the N.C. bar is a plus.
The successful candidate will have the option of primarily drafting patent applications, primarily prosecuting patent applications, or a mix of both. Depending on the chosen role, the candidate’s responsibilities may include reviewing invention disclosures, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, coordinating international patent prosecution, and advising clients. The candidate will work in a team environment, participate in the management of an international patent portfolio, and have significant client involvement. The firm will consider candidates for part-time and remote work arrangements.
