Orthovita, Inc., located in Malvern, PA, is a leading biomaterials company with proprietary technologies for the development and commercialization of synthetic, biologically active, tissue engineering products for orthopedic and neurosurgical applications. We are currently looking for a Paralegal to join our growing company. Person will report to the Director of Intellectual Property.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Maintain U.S. and international patent and trademark dockets, files, and reports.
• Maintain IP portfolio database.
• Monitor critical filing dates and manage payments of annuities and maintenance.
• Prepare correspondence with outside counsel and patent offices.
• Perform research and routine searches using patent and trademark databases.
• Support due diligence activities.
Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Will assist in-house patent agents and corporate counsel with intellectual property matters. Must have excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Must be able to handle multiple tasks, work well under pressure, and work independently. Requires the ability to communicate effectively with team members and outside counsel. Familiarity and previous experience with U.S. and foreign patent matters a must. Experience in a corporate patent department preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.
