Patent Attorney – Law Firm – Columbus, Ohio

The Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP Columbus office of Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP is seeking a patent attorney. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, be registered with the USPTO, and have 1-4 years of experience as a patent attorney or patent agent, including work related to electrical engineering, and at least light mechanical engineering technology. Experience in trademark preparation, prosecution, and clearance is also a plus.

Responsibilities will include the following: draft, prepare, submit, and prosecute patent applications; manage, review, and troubleshoot patent portfolios; assist with obtaining and evaluating invention disclosures; assess inventions; interact with the USPTO; help maintain patent databases and electronic files.

Applicants must be able to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage deadlines. Applicants should possess a strong academic record, superior writing and analytical skills, and the ability to work well with our diverse client base. Additionally, it is preferred that applicants are licensed to practice law in Ohio, or they must be willing to sit for the Ohio Bar Exam.
