ON Semiconductor is seeking to hire an IP counsel to provide support across several different IP areas. Responsibilities will include:
- Managing invention generation by counseling with inventors, providing IP training, attending patent committee meetings, and reviewing invention disclosures.
- Preparing, filing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications and managing patent prosecution efforts of outside counsel.
- Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing intellectual property agreements, including: license agreements, development agreements, supply agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
- Providing support for various IP matters in relation to mergers and acquisitions.
- Analyzing, mining, and monetizing the patent portfolio, including investigations of competitive products and preparation of claim charts.
- Providing litigation support, both offensive and defensive matters.
This position can be located in Europe or in other US cities where ON Semiconductor has an office location.
Requirements
- J.D. degree from an A.B.A. accredited law school.
- Member of a state bar and be admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office with 3-5 years of experience as a patent attorney.
- Electrical Engineering or Physics degree.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Additional Detail: This position reports to the head of intellectual property in Phoenix, Arizona. Related semiconductor industry experience is highly desirable and should be highlighted. The successful candidate will be a team player who demonstrates flexibility and is able to handle a variety of intellectual property law matters in a timely manner. Position is in Phoenix, however, other locations, Europe or other US cities, will be considered depending on the candidate. Occasional travel (<20%).
