HG is actively seeking talented chemists for our New York office to work on patent-related matters as Patent Agents.
Applicants should have the ability to commute to our NY office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Counsel clients on strategies for how to protect their inventions.
- Prepare and prosecute patent applications.
- Defend client patents against third party challenges.
- Help clients when third parties have misappropriated client intellectual property.
- Confer with inventors about their inventions.
Job Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, preferably in Organic Chemistry.
- 3-5 years prior patent drafting and prosecution experience.
- Admitted to practice before the USPTO.
- Exceptional English written and oral communication skills.
- Must have a healthy curiosity and an interest in developing a career in intellectual property.
- Excellent analytical skills and a robust problem-solving mindset.
- A strong drive and willingness to own projects and see them to completion.
- Multi-dimensional interest in and capable of rapidly learning new technologies.
- Excellent academic record.
- Practical research experience.

Salary range is $130K-$150K based on experience.
For eligible Patent Agents, we will fund law school costs and expenses for an approved, part-time evening law school program.
