Seattle Genetics is seeking is a patent attorney or agent with prosecution experience in molecular biology or immunology, and preferably antibody prosecution.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Draft and prosecute patent applications involving new antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs)
- Collaborate with research personnel to develop and execute patentability strategies for new therapeutic targets and related antibody-drug conjugates
- Conduct patentability and freedom to operate studies for new therapeutic targets and related ADCs
- Supervise external patent counsel
Requirements (technical skills, key characteristics, education, etc.)
- Admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
- For attorneys, member of a state bar and eligible to be admitted to practice in Washington state
- 3-5 years (attorney) or 3-8 years (agent) of prosecution experience in biotechnology, antibodies, and large molecule therapeutics
- MS in molecular biology, or immunology, or related degree; advanced degree preferred
- Ability to draft and prosecute patent applications
- Substantial experience in domestic and foreign patent prosecution
- Familiarity with patentability and FTO searches
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Excellent English written and oral communication skills
- Large IP law firm training preferred
