Patent Attorney/Sr. Patent Agent – Large Corporation – Bothell, Wa.

Seattle Genetics Seattle Geneticsis seeking is a patent attorney or agent with prosecution experience in molecular biology or immunology, and preferably antibody prosecution.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications involving new antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs)
  • Collaborate with research personnel to develop and execute patentability strategies for new therapeutic targets and related antibody-drug conjugates
  • Conduct patentability and freedom to operate studies for new therapeutic targets and related ADCs
  • Supervise external patent counsel

Requirements (technical skills, key characteristics, education, etc.)

  • Admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • For attorneys, member of a state bar and eligible to be admitted to practice in Washington state
  • 3-5 years (attorney) or 3-8 years (agent) of prosecution experience in biotechnology, antibodies, and large molecule therapeutics
  • MS in molecular biology, or immunology, or related degree; advanced degree preferred
  • Ability to draft and prosecute patent applications
  • Substantial experience in domestic and foreign patent prosecution
  • Familiarity with patentability and FTO searches
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills
  • Large IP law firm training preferred
