- develop strong relationships with client executives (President, CTO, Directors)
- focus on driving results for 4-5 clients
- expand your experience to different aspects of IP value (e.g., portfolio development, monetization, litigation, defense)
- collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of legal and technical professionals

Essential qualifications include:
- a USPTO registration number in good standing
- member of at least one state bar in good standing
- a degree in engineering, computer science, or physics
- 3-7 years of legal experience, including at least 2-3 years in private practice
- a strong prosecution foundation (50+ applications written)
- Candidates must demonstrate experience writing patent applications for technologies applying artificial intelligence and/or applying AI in an industrial or academic capacity. It is essential that candidates understand: AI architectures, particularly deep learning architectures including transformers; machine learning methodologies including classification and regression; and data preprocessing and feature engineering techniques.

Responsibilities for this multidisciplinary role include:
In support of portfolio development programs:
- master our clients’ products, services, and patent portfolios
- lead invention disclosure meetings and sync calls with clients
- counsel clients on IP strategy, including patents and trade secrets
- formulate international filing strategies aligned with the clients' strategic goals
- draft and prosecute utility patent applications primarily in relation to autonomous robotics, consumer products (utility + design), and bioengineering instruments
- efficiently manage foreign associates
- conduct competitive analysis and prior art searching
- prepare claim charts mapping client claims onto competing products
- prepare portfolio updates and budget forecasts
- conduct due diligence responsive to investor requests
- regular travel to client sites (approximately 10-15% travel)
In support of monetization programs:
- with the guidance of technical advisors, prepare claim charts for electrical and communications technologies, including wireless and semiconductor technologies
- assert claim charts in technical discussions with counterparties
- formulate rebuttals to invalidity and noninfringement defenses raised by counterparties
- support litigation counsel by preparing and reviewing pleadings, briefings, infringement contentions, and working with expert witnesses (*NOTE* this is not a traditional litigation role)
- support reverse engineering projects
What We Offer: Expected annual compensation for this role will total $250,000 - $300,000 (salary + objective bonus). We expect to create a long term relationship and offer a transparent pathway to partnership. We will consider on-site, hybrid, and remote work arrangements on a case-by-case basis.
