A Different Kind of Patent Agent – Law Firm – Remote

About the role:
Patent Agents on our team are different than Patent Agents at other firms. Patent Agents at K&B have direct client contact for all aspects of application drafting and patent prosecution. Here, Patent Agents are encouraged to direct or participate in disclosure meetings with clients, spearhead drafting patent applications, and interface with clients directly to incorporate client feedback. Additionally, Patent Agents are encouraged to take the lead in Examiner interviews, drafting responses and appeal briefs, and delivering oral arguments at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). At K&B, you are the point-person for your cases, and we are here to support you in the development of your practice. Our primary goal is to train practitioners to become independent and capable patent prosecutors in their own right; not simply to support an attorney with analysis and initial drafts. Please ask us more about how K&B is different during our interviews!
We are looking for Patent Agents who have two+ years of patent prosecution experience. Electrical engineering and/or computer science degrees are preferred, but other technical degrees will be considered, including mechanical engineering, physics and software.
Compensation will match qualifications.
Our main office is located in Los Angeles, but remote working arrangements with visits to the Los Angeles office are completely acceptable. We are also looking to grow a team in the Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. areas in particular; so, if you are interested in contributing to and participating in the development of that team, this could be a great opportunity!
We are a growing law firm--get in early at a firm where you can shape the firm, our culture, and your own practice and development!
By joining, you will also have the opportunity to work with one of the most well-known and innovative companies in the world! Between all of our clients, we prepare and prosecute patents in many exciting and cutting-edge technology areas, including AR/VR, machine learning, and others. Perform top-notch patent prosecution for cutting-edge clients in a collegial and relaxed atmosphere!
The pay range for this role is:
100,000 - 200,000 USD per year (Remote)
