Patterson Intellectual Property Law, PC is seeking a Mechanical Patent Associate with two to four years of legal experience in the mechanical arts. Experience in opinion work, freedom to operate analysis, due diligence and patent application preparation and prosecution is required.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform and conduct patentability and freedom to operate searches, render opinions regarding validity, infringement, enforceability and freedom to operate.
- Draft, file and prosecute patent applications with a primary focus on the protection of inventions and patent prosecution relating to mechanical arts. I
- International patent prosecution experience is also preferred.
Our ideal candidate will hold a degree in mechanical engineering with significant real life engineering experience. Must be admitted to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office and be a member of The Tennessee Bar (or willing to sit for the next exam).
Must excel in a team environment and be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent business judgment, ability to communicate clearly internally with other attorneys and with clients. Must possess the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The ability to concisely and effectively communicate complex matters in oral and written form is required. Advanced writing, comprehensive reading, communication and research skill is required. A strong work ethic and excellent leadership skills will add to your success on our team.
To be considered, a candidate must have excellent academic credentials. The Patent Attorney must hold a J.D. from an ABA-approved law school, and be in good standing and an active member of the bar of the state in which the candidate is admitted to practice.
