DiBerardino McGovern IP Group (DMIP Group) is seeking a Technology Specialist or Patent Agent. Strong academic credentials and at least a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Applicants with a graduate degree in engineering or a hard science and academic or professional experience with optical systems are preferred. Candidates should enjoy writing and must have strong writing skills. Applicants must have a strong work ethic and a desire to be part of a virtual law practice, be professional and proactive, be detail oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines and set priorities.
The position will involve all aspects of patent prosecution, including original patent application drafting and analysis. The position will also include supporting members of DMIP Group with respect to patent counseling, such as technical analysis related to freedom-to-operate, invalidity, and non-infringement investigations. Examples of technologies that we work with include optical, electrical, mechanical, and imaging systems.
In line with being a virtual law practice in which client confidentiality is a requirement, each applicant must have a dedicated work space that is closed off from the rest of the building in which the applicant works. High-speed internet service must be provided to the work space.

The position will have a billable hours goal of 1200 to 1600 hours per year, depending on the preferences of the Patent Agent or Technical Specialist.
