SolarCity 
is seeking a Sr. Patent Paralegal to support 5+ member IP team with patent preparation, prosecution, diligence, and other IP-related projects including meeting planning, project management, docketing, managing various internal processes, client reporting, etc. The location of this position is flexible, but the successful candidate must be available to occasionally travel to meetings in the bay area (e.g., San Mateo, San Rafael, Fremont, and San Francisco).
Responsibilities
- Assist Associate General Counsel and other IP attorneys with docket, invention disclosure management system, meeting planning, and preparing reports as needed
- Prepare and assist with patent application filing
- Assist in maintenance of patent portfolio
- Interface with outside counsel
- Perform legal research
- Respond to inquiries from other members of the SolarCity legal team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in patent prosecution and docketing – combination of law firm and in- house experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of USPTO rules
- Familiarity with at least one commercial docket management system
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines working independently
- Experience with invention disclosures and patent committee meetings
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong client service skills required
- Excellent customer service skills required
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check
