The Opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Innovation Specialist in Patent Analytics & Technology to join our growing team. This unique role sits at the intersection of patent law, artificial intelligence, software development, and data analytics. Your primary focus will be delivering AI-powered analytics, developing custom software solutions, and generating insights and reports that enable smarter decision-making for our clients and internal stakeholders.
In addition, you will collaborate with our genAI drafting tool team—contributing to prompt engineering, onboarding and help desk functions, and tool support for both internal and external users as needed.

Responsibilities:
- Patent Analytics & Data Science (Primary):
- AI Prompt Engineering: Develop, test, and refine prompts for generative AI models (e.g., OpenAI, Google, Meta, Anthropic) to drive analytics, data extraction, patent analysis, and reporting tasks.
- Analytics Tool & Program Development: Build, maintain, and enhance custom analytics programs, scripts, and dashboards to extract actionable insights from patent data and related sources.
- Analytics Solution Support: Provide onboarding and ongoing support to internal users and clients using our analytics tools and dashboards; share best practices and troubleshoot data/analytics issues.
- Testing & Validation: Participate in testing, validating, and reviewing analytics features, outputs, and models to ensure high-quality, reliable results for clients.
- Documentation: Create, update, and maintain clear documentation for analytics processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Feedback Management: Gather, analyze, and synthesize feedback from users to drive iterative improvements to analytics solutions and processes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with patent attorneys, analytics team members, and other stakeholders to define requirements and deliver analytics solutions that address key client and business needs.
- Support for genAI Drafting Tool (As Needed):
- Assist with prompt engineering and prompt testing for our generative AI drafting tool.
- Support onboarding and help desk functions for users of our genAI drafting tool—including responding to customer questions, resolving issues, and providing guidance on best practices.
- Participate in testing new genAI drafting tool features and outputs from the perspective of a patent professional or analytics specialist.
- Contribute to documentation, user feedback management, and tool improvement efforts for our genAI drafting solution.
Qualifications (Required):
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the patent field as a registered patent agent/attorney, U.S. Patent Examiner, or patent data analyst
- Demonstrable experience and foundational knowledge of AI prompting techniques; must understand key concepts and differences between various AI models
- Based in the United States and authorized to work in the US
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Adaptable and eager to learn new technologies
Qualifications (Preferred/Bonus):
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field
- Professional work experience involving AI, prompt engineering, or data analytics
- Ability to showcase personal projects involving AI, prompt engineering, or analytics
- Experience with Python (professional or personal projects)
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Plotly) or developing dashboards/visual reports
- Experience supporting AI software or tools (e.g., onboarding, help desk, user support)
