Japanese firm Fujitsu has sued Samsung in a US federal court, accusing the South Korean group of infringing its plasma display panel (PDP) patents. BBC has the story.
Fujitsu apparently holds approximately 800 patents on various features of PDP technology.
My guess would be that 800 would be world-wide, with the majority being Japanese. Many Japanese patents in flat panel display technologies wouldn’t be granted in the States. For example, AUO recently acquired IBM’s entire portolio of thin-film transistor LCD technologies, which amounted to 170 US patents.
