The Washington, D.C. office of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP is in search of a patent agent or lateral associate to work in the Patent Practice of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. We are seeking candidates who have 3 to 5 years of legal experience and a background in biotechnology. Technical experience in the areas of food technology, antibodies, enzymes, immunology and vaccines would be preferred. Other important factors will include experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications (including through appeal), the preparation of legal opinions, and due diligence reviews of patent portfolios for acquiring parties.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related biotechnology degree, excellent writing skills, the capacity to manage multiple assignments concurrently, and the ability to produce top quality work with minimal supervision. Patent associate candidates must also have a J.D. and excellent academics from a top law school. U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) work experience, while not required, is highly preferred.
