New Job Postings on Patently-O:
From the Wilhelm article: [M]any Ethiopians are annoyed that a Dutch company holds a patent on processed teff flour. To this day, in some European countries, no flour from the gluten-free and nutrient-rich super grain may be sold without paying royalties to the Netherlands.
This seems strange to me. Why are the Ethiopians annoyed that Dutch people must pay a royalty when buying a sort of flour that almost no Dutch people actually buy?
This does not affect the price that Ethiopians must pay for teff flour. Nor are any appreciable number of Dutch folk actually harmed by this.
It would seem to me that Ethiopian folks should have better things about which to worry than about royalty payments that almost no one actually pays, least of all the Ethiopians themselves.
… maybe there is a thriving secondary market that is desired to be thwarted with Geo-Pricing…
