Responsibilities:
• Help protect SEL worldwide intellectual property portfolio.
• Advise management in all IP matters including patent, copyright, licensing, trade secret, and trademark.
• Work with US and foreign outside counsel to timely prepare and prosecute patents.
• Work closely with R&D to identify and protect patentable inventions.
• Advise and train other departments in all IP matters.
• Assist Lead Counsel with infringement matters.
• Draft and negotiate IP clauses and agreements including NDAs and licensing agreements.
• Identify, measure and improve intellectual property processes.
Qualifications:
• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or other discipline related to SEL purpose
• J.D. degree from an accredited school of law
• Member in good standing of a state bar
• Member in good standing of U. S. Patent and Trademark Office bar
• Working knowledge of the U.S. and international patent process
• Exceptional interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
• Background check results satisfactory to SEL
• Negative drug test result(s)
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of relevant legal experience
