Basic Qualifications:

At least 3 years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
Juris Doctor and membership in good standing in at least one state bar.
Registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
Experience with providing intellectual property transactional counseling, including experience with university collaboration agreements, joint development agreements, licensing agreements, and M&A due diligence.
Experience with IP issues in open source, including the IP impact of open source contributions and familiarity with widely used open source licenses.
Experience as a software developer or hardware engineer.
Experience with financial technologies (Fintech).

Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Manager, Intellectual Property is a registered patent practitioner primarily responsible for overseeing the voluminous and diverse portfolio of University of Maryland’s intellectual property from disclosure to patenting which requires constant follow-up. Experience:
Three (3) years of patent prosecution experience. At least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
