Experience:

Duties:

The candidate will focus mainly on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in one or more of the above technical fields.
Duties may also include the drafting and analysis of patent re-examinations as well as opinions of counsel; management and direction of foreign counsel; client counseling, infringement analysis, validity analysis, re-examination and reissue request drafting, IP licensing, IP due diligence, and assistance with marketing and client development efforts; possible review and management of junior associate work product for senior candidates; and direction of paralegal staff. In addition, duties may include occasionally supporting our firm’s commercial litigation practice in the litigation of IP matters, including the drafting of pleadings, discovery requests, motions, briefs, reports, etc.

Salary:

We offer a unique compensation structure which provides a generous base salary with an expectation of 1550 minimum billable hours per year.
For employees who generate over 1550 billable hours per year, we also offer a formula-based bonus for each billed hour over 1550 hours. Total compensation is based on productivity and billable hours, and is projected to be similar to that of large law firms for candidates interested in billing large law firm hours (e.g., ~ 2000 billable hours).

McNeill Baur, a small law firm, is seeking a Life Sciences Patent Attorney or Agent to work remotely.

For associates committed to billing 1700 per year salary range: $180,000 – $260,000 per year. For counsel committed to billing 1700 per year salary range: $250,000 – $270,000 per year.
For agents committed to billing 1700 per year salary range: $150,000 – $210,000 per year.

Weaver Austin Villeneuve & Sampson LLP, a large law firm, is seeking a Patent Agent, Patent Attorney, Patent Scientist or Patent Trainee to work remotely or in the California Bay Area.

As a Patent Agent, Patent Attorney, or Patent Scientist, you will be responsible for preparing and prosecuting patent applications in a variety of chemistry-related technologies for US and foreign patent prosecution. As a Patent Trainee, we will train you to learn how to prepare and prosecute patent applications in a variety of chemistry-related technologies for US and foreign patent prosecution for a career in patent prosecution at our firm. You will join an incredible team of attorneys, agents, paralegals, and staff that represents a wide range of clients. Technical areas include those relating to semiconductor fabrication techniques, electrochemistry, surface chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, and bioinformatics.

Qualification Requirements:

Eligible to be admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Minimum B.S. or preferably M.S. or Ph.D. in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, physical sciences, or other relevant physical sciences field; or pertinent industry experience.
Strong writing and communication skills
Demonstrated interest in patent prosecution
Ability to work with colleagues in various time zones in the U.S.
Patent drafting and prosecution experience in materials science, thin film chemistry, surface chemistry, semiconductor fabrication processes, electrochemistry, chemical engineering, and bioinformatics a plus.
Not required but a plus: Patent drafting and prosecution experience in materials science, thin film chemistry, surface chemistry, semiconductor fabrication processes, electrochemistry, chemical engineering, and/or bioinformatics.
